Saving big bucks on removals in London

London is one of the most expensive cities in the world. As an urban metropolis, sprawled across a huge area, it can be incredibly difficult to find the best, and the cheapest, way to move house. Due to the compact nature of the city, everything is very close together and yet at the same time, very far apart. However, despite the expense of the city and the cramped and sprawling lay out, there are still some opportunities and methods for saving big bucks when moving within the city.

A first consideration could be renting your own van. Transporting your entire worldly possessions across the city, even if it is only a few miles, can be incredibly expensive if you hire a removal company London. Traffic alone can hinder progress on any given day. The cheapest option for transporting a large amount of items is to hire your on van. There are a large number of rental businesses in the UK, with many depots in all areas of the city. Use the internet or the telephone directory to find the one nearest you, either your current or future home. You will need a full UK driving licence, and there will be certain parameters set by the rental company, usually concerning age. Once in possession of your temporary van, pack in your things and head for the road. Without having to rely on removals firms or a man with a van, you have a greater amount of flexibility to move when and how you please, and are less at the whim of a busy firm or tradesman. Cutting out the middle man in the removals van world can save a good amount of money.

Pay consideration to where you will source your packaging materials. With such a large city, people are constantly moving. As such, someone you know, or even a friend of a friend may have items essential for moving which they can pass along to you. Second hand boxes will likely work just as well as the expensive new models you might have had to purchase. Also check online and print classified ads if you are unable to source anything from your social circle. This can be an excellent money saver, but be sure to pass on the favour when you are finished.

Consider this an excellent opportunity to remove unnecessary items from your life. It may be that your new home or new life has no place for the full sized pool table you thought would be a good idea. Sell these items. This will not only pocket you a small sum, but can be reinvested in the move itself, allowing you to quickly cover any sunken costs.

When moving from the old property, make sure to cancel any standing order or subscriptions. There’s no need for you to have your milk every day on the doorstep, and it will just be a waste of money. Similarly, contact your utility providers. Some companies offer property moving services, allowing you to switch your account to the new property with a greater reduction in hassle and could save you on installation and set-up fees which companies charge to new customers.

If you do chose to use a removal firm, London offers so many potential firms that you will be able to compare and contrast a large amount of quotes from a large number of legitimately potential firms; you are not limited, as you might be in a smaller town, to the local firms only. The sheer number of local firms allows you to find the perfect firm for you. Typically, this is also the cheapest firm and will help you save big bucks.

Tips on Moving Special Items

Distribusha Removals - Man and Van Movers

Moving includes a lot of issues if you don't approach it with care, however special items are in a very special circle of said issues if you ignore their importance. There are things like pianos, pool tables, antique furniture and more that are either high value or extremely difficult to replace. No matter what items you're moving, the importance of these steps cannot be denied. You will have to pay heed to them if you want to get the job done with as little pain as possible. Let us begin with the first one:

Packing hints
If you need to pack any fragile or delicate items, you will need to make sure they are well-protected during the move. Large items are extremely difficult to maneuver around during a move, so you must make sure you can take care of them the right way. Sometimes, there are are smaller and more irregular items that require special treatment as well. For the most part, you can start by providing as much padding as possible. Make sure you always put enough bubble wrap to accommodate them, alternately replacing them with packing peanuts, paper or even special containers that are made for the transportation of fragile items. Wrap the legs of furniture and pianos as well as wrapping them to avoid scratching and worse. Keep sharp objects and packing tape away from any surfaces that could be difficult to clean. The variations in temperature in the backs of moving trucks may cause materials like that to stick to these surfaces, making your pianos and other special items suffer nearly irreversible damage. Wrap things up in moving blankets, disassemble anything that can needs to be disassembled and make sure you let the movers know of any special instructions if you have any. Although they should know what to do, it might be good to let them know anyway.

Finding the right moving company
The second, but equally important step is getting the chance to work with a company capable of providing the best protection for your belongings. There may be many companies on the market, but those who specialize in moving bulky, sensitive objects are what you should be aiming at. Much like it is with other moving companies, it is important to do quite a few things before you manage to succeed. First of all, you will need to check the recommendations of those who have used the company you may have chosen already. Piano shops and antique stores may already have a deal with a given company, possibly even offering discounts to those who use their services. You should ask for references for the movers you might have chosen. Good companies will have a list of customers who will agree to provide such references as a true testimony for potential clients. Online business directories will also have the option of reviews, where you will find information on the acumen of your chosen company and their interactions with their client base. Check out how your special item is usually moved, so you would have a decent amount of information available on hand. Staying educated in this will help you avoid possible scams, as you will know what is considered standard in the industry and how things are handled.

4 things to do before moving abroad

Planning a move abroad will be a lot more time consuming that a normal relocation, as you will have a number of additional things to think about, including passports, shipping, and so on. Below are a few things to make sure you have done prior to leaving for your new home.

Check all your document are in order well in advance

Making sure your passport is valid and up to date is a must of course, but there is other documentation you may need to check before heading overseas. One thing to make sure you have looked over are any relevant shipping or port authority forms for all your household items. You will probably be shipping most of your things via  container service, and sometimes these have additional requirements that you may need to look over yourself, so make sure to check with your shipping company and any relevant port authorities, especially in the country you are moving to.

Making sure your drivers licence is up to date is also important - if you’re moving within the EU then a valid licence will enable you to drive legally, but will be required for other countries further a field too, even though you may have to apply for a licence specific to the country you are moving to.

Make sure you pack essentials you can take with you

Depending on which country you are moving to, there may be quite a delay between your arrival and the arrival of your container with all your everyday goods an furniture. To avoid having to spend additional money once you've reached your new home, make sure you have a few suitcases or boxes of everyday things that you can make do with until the rest of your stuff arrives. A few changes of clothes, some basic cutlery and kitchen ware, and sheets and blankets are a good starting point. Anything that you might take with you on holiday or for an extended stay are generally things that you should bring with you. This will avoid you being stuck in your new home with no basic amenities should you have to wait for your items.

Know the relevant tax and employment laws of your destination

Most countries have different laws regarding tax and employment to that of the United Kingdom. You may also need to register as a citizen in some places, so it can be good to know what is legally required of you before relocating. Most countries will require you to register as an immigrant, and you may need to sign and fill out further forms to have the right to work and claim any welfare that a country might have in place. Also look into potential schools if moving with children, and what medical care a country offers.

Learn some basic language skills

If you are planning to move to Australia or the US, this will not be very relevant, and while a large amount of countries do have a widespread amount of English speaker, or at least understand it to some degree, long term it will be much more beneficial to learn some basic phrases in the relevant language. While it may be difficult, you won’t need to be fluent for when you arrive, as you will pick up local languages in time, but having some basic phrases in your repertoire can greatly help  when it comes to filling out legal documents and getting what you need for everyday life when shopping and so on.

De-stress your move from London to the Netherlands

It does not matter whether you are moving short distance or long distance. Both are equally stressful. The main reason so many people find moving really stressful is because few people know what they need to do. Many people haven’t got a clue when it comes to moving house. Therefore, it tends to make them feel stressed. If you know what you are doing when it comes to moving, you should not have a problem at all.
The Netherlands, also known as Holland, is a country in Europe. Its neighbors are Germany and Belgium. The language spoken in the Netherlands is Dutch, but many people in the large cities in the Netherlands are able to communicate in other languages in addition to Dutch. When one thinks of the Netherlands, you think of windmills and flat lands. However, there is much more to this country that those things. It is a stunning country with a range of historical cities such as Amsterdam, Maastricht, and The Hague.
First and foremost, you need to get organised. This is crucial. A move without a plan is a moving that won’t turn out well at all. Therefore, you must plan. To do this, you need to create a moving schedule and a moving list. On the moving schedule you need to create a timetable of what will be happening during your move that you can follow. Ask your removal company for help on this if you like. They may even provide you with one. Then, you need to create your own personal moving list of tasks you need to do before you move. What a lot of people do not realise is that there are a lot of tasks that need to be done before you even before. It is crucial that you write down all the tasks that need to be done, such as telling friends and family about your move, packing, sorting out documents and so on. Make sure you write them down on your list and start doing them. Each time a task has been completed, you can cross it off your list and start on a new one.
After you have gotten organised, it’s time to choose a professional removals company you can rely on completely. It is never easy finding a removals company you can trust. In order to make sure they are the right company for you, you need to do some research on companies. Read reviews on the company, write to as many as possible and see which ones respond the promptest. The promptest is most likely to be the best choice. It would also be a good idea to ask friends and family who they recommend. When you use a professional removals company, they will do most of the move for you so they will pretty much de-stress your move. Unlike when you go down the DIY move route, you won’t have to think about so much because the company will handle it all for you. With their experience and resources, you are guaranteed to have a smooth move.
Nobody enjoys moving. That’s common knowledge. With work and other daily tasks that drain you of time, it can be quite challenging finding the time to commit to moving. That is why you need to get planning straight away if you want your move to Netherlands to be completely stress-free. Planning and organision equals success in most aspects of life and it certainly applies to moving.
